Is the United States different from other countries in it’s obligations to the world?
In Obama’s speech a few days ago he seemed to suggest that the United States had obligations to intervene in foreign affairs that other country’s do not. Do you agree with him?
The United States has absolutely no obligation to interfere. In fact our first President warned against getting entangled in foreign affairs. The Monroe doctrine says other countries should keep their nose out of America. We ignored that good advice and here we are, up to our necks in the soup.
