Tonk Man

Honky Tonk Man worth it or not??
The Honky Tonk Man tells me that he would work only if I meet the following requirements #1) he is to be pose as the good guy and will only wrestle against bad guys #2) 1,000 per match a setup table for autographs which he is to keep all of the funds + airfare hotel rental car “which he will not accept any discount for hotels airfare car etc promoters must pay full prices” = about another 800 to 1,000 dollars #3) “which is my favorite” I must make sure that I supply him with M&M’s candy and that I must make sure all the red ones are out.
“what i told him” if this was 1988 or if he was just fresh out of the WWF/E i would do as i could to make his visit a good one , but also told him that he is a grown man and that if he is able to wipe his an azz that he should be able to take out his own M&M’s I am not a baby sitter nor his daddy “with his name alone how much could he bring to me” this was the real question, is he worth it? to me NO
I believe you have too much time on your hands!!

Let It Bleed $8.45 One of the Stones’ most beloved albums, 1969′s Let It Bleed was a benchmark for several reasons. First, founding guitarist Brian Jones died during the recording process. Second, the Stones take their last significant look at pure blues (Robert Johnson’s spooky “Love in Vain”) and country (“Country Honk,” the two-stepping alter ego of “Honky-Tonk Women”) before folding both styles into a cohesive r… |

Honky Tonk $82.85 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A honky tonk (also called a honkatonk, honkeytonk, or tonk) is a type of bar with musical entertainment common in the Southern and Southwestern United States. The term has also been applied to various styles of 20thcentury American music. The origin of the term honky tonk is unknown. The earliest source explaining the derivation of the term (spelled honkatonk ) was an article published in 1900 by the New York Sun and widely reprinted in other newspapers. It states that the term came from the sound of geese, which led an unsuspecting group of cowboys to the flock instead of to the variety show they expected. The OED also states that the first use in print was in 1894 in the Daily Ardmoreite (Ardmore, Oklahoma) newspaper, in which it was written honkatonk. However, honkatonk has been cited from at least 1892 in the Galveston Daily News (Galveston, Texas), which used the term to refer to an adult establishment in Fort Worth. Honky-Tonk Girl $4.19 Honky-Tonk Street-a dark, lonely, sordid edge of town where doom and despair reign supreme-a place where Johnny Nickles and the members of his jazz band are playing hot sets in seedy clubs among the whores, winos, and grifters who make up the denizens of the district. But a killer is stalking Johnny and his band, and Johnny finds himself trapped in a deadly game of chicken with local power broker Sam Cowles, his corrupt lackey Sheriff Botello, and a deadly professional thug for hire. What’s worse, the group’s mysterious Ghost Album, which memorializes and recreates classic jazz songs by long-dead masters of the art, has become almost a curse to the performers. This is a haunting, forgotten classic of the noir crime novel. We can feel the world closing in on Johnny Nickles; we can almost hear the moody jazz riffs and cool music background tightening around his neck. Beckman’s text beats a worthy accompaniment to the harsh tempo of Johnny’s downward spiral. In this novel jazz is not merely a background to the noir setting, it’s a flesh and blood thing rich with a texture that runs deep and true throughout the story. Beckman knows his stuff, and struts it as masterfully as any jazzman playing a hot solo to a packed house. It doesn’t get much better than this. First publication in almost six decades. |

A White Hat in Argo: Family Secrets $10.95 A White Hat in Argo describes the survival of a close-knit Negro family, led by three sisters, during the summer of 1951. Lil Man, an 8-year old, was enthralled by the rich lifestyles of his hard working relatives who lived in the small town outside Chicago, named Argo. The Negro section of Argo became an oasis for Blacks who earned a good wage working in the huge corn processing factory that dominated the town. Men worked hard and played hard in the bars and taverns that lined the Horseshoe Bend, where cheap drinks, fast women, honky-tonk music and cut throat gambling spiced up the nights. Rooster, Captain, Oliver, and Wallace survived that harsh life in different memorable ways.Author Gerald V. Stokes, through eyes of Lil Man, examines the mystery of why the three Shelman sisters, part of the Black Migration of the 1920”s, left Troy, Alabama, and took root in Argo, Illinois. Negro life in Argo was vibrant and care-free, yet intensely dangerous during that era. It was also a time where community closeness insured survival, but everyone held deeper secrets they dare not reveal. The secrets held by the three sisters were the most profound of all. |

End of Amnesia $19.98 M.Ward’s second solo enterprise verifies the artist as one of those few songwriters who stand between the cracks of time, where he spins a hallucinatory, new universe out of old-world roots. Indeed, there’s a real down-home, unpolished luster to End of Amnesia, both in execution and in songwriting, that gives it a timeless, old-fashioned pallor. And yet there’s also something just slightly off in the songs, a strange, disembodied quality that seems to come at least partly from an ulterior place, be it real or imagined. That attribute is precisely what gives the music such a singular, distinctive sound and vision. Ward comes off like a sort of one-man the Band with nothing but a beat-up guitar and his sepia croak of a voice. His acoustic guitar playing has the kind of impressive, gutsy virtuosity of Stephen Stills, while the music is part folk-blues ? la Townes Van Zandt and part deep Appalachian pallidness, with a dash of Tin Pan Alley thrown in via the odd foot stomp or honky tonk piano run. Musicianship is superb, and as stark as the instrumentation is, there is first and foremost a special quality of songwriting that results in acoustic instrumentals (the drone-like title track, the wistful “Psalm”) or nearly instrumental ballads (the gauzy, sunlike picking of “Color of Water”). The songs can be unsparing in their desolation, sound-wise if not necessarily in their worldview, although there is certainly a sense of loss present throughout. One gets the feeling, however, that the mood is less a product of a personal feeling than it is a personal perspective of a vanishing era of song, one free of commercial constraint, marketing, or trend. And yet the songs aren’t long glances backward so much as they are outgrowths, seedlings from a great old uprooted tree trying to recapture some of the biblical grandeur that has wilted away, some of the lost importance, trying to refill a shadow that’s no longer there. The album is a keeper, pure, simple, and unaffected b… |

Heartbreak Hotel $22.99 George Jones? name is synonymous with pure country so the very concept behind Bear Family? s 2011 compilation Heartbreak Hotel: Gonna Shake This Shack Tonight might strike some as odd. Unlike so many collections of George? s recordings for Starday, Mercury, and United Artists, this pushes the honky tonk to the back burner, favoring all the rockabilly and country boogie Jones cut early in his career. Turns out, this is quite a bit — 35 tracks by Bear Family? s count, including a couple of big hits like ? Tall Tall Trees,? ? White Lightnin’,? and ? Who Shot Sam,? along with tracks that often pop up on Mercury recordings, but this also has rockabilly singles George recorded under the name Thumper Jones and very rare, previously un-reissued sides he recorded for Starday? s budget-line fly-by-night Dixie label, where he covered hits of the day like Johnny Horton? s ? One Woman Man? and Elvis Presley? s ? Heartbreak Hotel.? On that, George gamely adopts some of Elvis? loose-legged mannerisms and that goes a long way in explaining the sensibility of this collection. Even when Jones is singing about Jesus, this is tremendously fun, wild music, sometimes rocking really hard — the opening alternate take of ? Rock It? careens madly — sometimes getting absurdly silly, sometimes just laying back as George sings a bit of the blues. Most of all, Heartbreak Hotel does the rarest of things: it surprises, not because it does dig up some rarities — and it does, which may be enough for hardcore collectors — but because of the context. By putting all these rocking sides in one place, Bear Family reveals that George Jones isn? t only a consummate country crooner but one of the wildest rockabilly cats, and that? s why Heartbreak Hotel is absolutely essential. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi |

Memphis Rockabilly King $17.99 There was probably no worse city in America to be a second-string rockabilly artist than Memphis, TN — with Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Charlie Feathers, Billy Lee Riley and the rest of the Sun Records roster in town, you could have a lot of talent and still look like a piker in comparison. Eddie Bond was one of the dozens of rockabilly singers who bubbled under on the Memphis music scene in the ’50s, cutting a few rare singles for Mercury before starting his own label and later enjoying some local success as a country artist, but this CD collection of 40 (!) sides Bond recorded between 1955 and 1984 proves he was more interesting than the majority of lesser-known first-era rockabillies. Bond’s early Mercury andEkko sides (such as “Slip Slip Slippin’ In,” “Boppin’ Bonnie” and “Flip Flop Mama”) were frantic stuff indeed, dominated by Bond’s strong but acrobatic vocals and locomotive guitar work, and if a major hit never came his way, he also never gave up on the music, still cutting solid rockabilly sides like “Juke Joint Johnny” and “Look Like a Monkey” well into the late ’60s. While Bond was also recording country songs in the ’60s, the tunes presented here are tough honky tonk stuff that show the man still hadn’t given up the ghost, and given how much music has been crammed onto this disc, the batting average is admirably high, with nary a dog in sight. Eddie Bond was hardly the Rockabilly King of Memphis, despite what the title of this disc would lead you to believe, but he was one of the better exponents of the form and this collection captures him in solid form; vintage rockabilly obsessives will certainly want to give this a spin. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |

Newworldson $8.99 It’s quite possible that you may never again hear a gospel album quite as irresistible as Newworldson’s self-titled sophomore disc. In other words, buckle up and hold on for dear life. Not since Mike Farris’ Salvation in Lights has gospel been completely spun on its side. It’s reasonable to credit Newworldson with simultaneously transforming an entire genre and creating one all to themselves. They are quite simply the most artistic, rhythmic, authentic gospel group to hit the scene in decades. Their sophomore album is a wild, improbable romp through the worlds of funk, ’60s-style folk-pop, jam rock, reggae, worldbeat, honky tonk, jazz, and blues. And it’s impossible to deny their infectiousness. One need listen no further than the opening track, “You Set the Rhythm,” to understand singer Joel Parisien’s m.o.: the man is on a mission to get you moving. One of the album’s defining moments is “That’s Exactly (How I Like It).” On a tour stop in Holland, a local Dutch radio station gave Newworldson one hour to narrow down a list of song titles submitted by fans, select their favorite, compose a song by that title, and perform it on air at the end of the time limit. The finished song’s finesse and polish demonstrate the group’s seemingly endless talent. Artistic, powerful, and captivating, the album doesn’t compromise anywhere, offering profound lyrics set to some of the grooviest backbeats to ever be associated with worship music. ~ Jared Johnson, Rovi |
