How did Randy Macho Man Savage turn good back in 1987?

I know Elizabeth went to get Hulk Hogan to help Savage out against Hart Foundation and Honkey Tonk Man but how did Savage get into a situation where these guys turned on him? Was this originally some kind of match and Savage cost them the win or something?
So there wasn’t one actual moment that turned him good it was a gradual change?

In 1987, it was just a casual change when he teamed up with Hulk Hogan. Because Hulk Hogan was the biggest babyface of all time up that point, it almost made Savage a babyface by default.

His other face turn was much more dramatic.

At Wrestlemania 7, Randy Savage lost to Ultimate Warrior which led his than valet, Sherri to get mad at him and start attacking him. Elizabeth couldn’t stand it so she went in the ring and helped him by fighting off Sherri. After the attack, Randy Savage hugged Elizabeth, the crowd cheered, and just like that, he was a babyface again.
