Ecw Championship $76.47 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Extreme Championship Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship was a professional wrestling world heavyweight championship in Extreme Championship Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment. It was the original world title of the Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion, later serving under WWE as the world title of the ECW brand and one of three in WWE, complementing the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship. It was established under ECW in 1994 but was originally introduced in 1992 by the precursor to ECW, Eastern Championship Wrestling. ECW World Heavyweight Championship reigns were determined by professional wrestling matches, in which competitors are involved in scripted rivalries. The Rise & Fall of ECW $13.99 Independent wrestling promotions were once the norm all across the country. However, with the rise of World Wrestling Entertainment and the creation of World Championship Wrestling — out of three Southern promotions — the possibility of an independent succeeding grew fainter and fainter. As the nineties began, independents were looking for creative ways to survive. In the East, several banded together to share cost and talent; they were known as Eastern Championship Wrestling. Based out of a warehouse in Philadelphia that stored parade floats and hosted bingo, this promotion seemed doomed to be just one more ninety-day wonder. When they hired a brash New Yorker, Paul Heyman, he warned Eastern Championship Wrestling that the job was just temporary. He would come in, shake up a lot of the wrestlers, and then leave. But what Heyman did redefined professional wrestling in the nineties. What he created was a company that dared to push the boundaries of sports entertainment. What he created became Extreme Championship Wrestling. As the person responsible for booking — who was going to wrestle and who was going to win — Heyman dared to break with tradition. Rather than relying on local talent and down-and-out veterans to draw in crowds, he created new characters and story lines that would appeal to the core wrestling fans: eighteen- to twenty-four- year-old men. Paul also realized that to persuade them to come, you had to get their interest and keep it. You had to offer the fans more than just the match. ECW became known for the interview, the shoot. Heyman got to know each wrestler’s style, and in their interviews he would encourage them to speak from their hearts. When it came to the matches, ECW broke even farther from the mainstream. Tables, ladders, chairs, barbed wire, and even frying pans were used with abandon. Wrestlers not wanting to be topped put their bodies on the line, taking ever greater risks, daring to jump, leap, and fall from places never tried before. ECW matches became the stuff of legend. Word spread as savvy wrestling fans began talking about the promotion and exchanging tapes. To keep the buzz building, wrestlers used the age-old trick of taunting the fans, and ECW fans responded in kind. By including the fans in the shows, ECW attracted a rabid, cult-like following that is still going strong today. For nearly a decade, ECW redefined professional wrestling with a reckless, brutal, death-defying, and often bloody style that became synonymous with “hardcore.” Through extensive interviews with former ECW talent and management — Paul Heyman, Mick Foley, Tazz, Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, and many more — The Rise & Fall of ECW reveals what made this upstart company from Philadelphia great — and what ultimately led to its demise. |

Ecw Barely Legal by Christer, Emory [Paperback] $111.53 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Barely Legal was the first professional wrestling payperview event held by Extreme Championship Wrestling. It took place on April 13, 1997 from the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Getting the payperview on in the first place was a struggle. Viewers Choice (now named In Demand) was very hesitant at putting ECW on payperview because they felt that ECW was too vulgar and brutal, and refused to air the show without restrictions on the content. Paul Heyman claimed that this was a double standard because Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was being criticized for its violent content at the time, but it was still getting payperview time. Request TV agreed to give ECW a payperview under the condition that it aired at 9:00 p.m. rather than the 7:00 p.m. time slot that payperviews usually held during that time frame. Christian College, Christian Calling $65 “Christian colleges have been set up by Christian churches throughout American history. But all too often these schools and the groups that support them come into conflict, typically over what is being taught in religion and philosophy classes. Christian College, Christian Calling seeks not so much to resolve this tension between congregation and academy as to explain why it exists and why it might even be fruitful. Instructors of philosophy, theology, church history, Biblical studies, and ministry from Azusa Pacific University explain the value of their disciplines in down-to-earth terms_not in terms of academic achievement but in terms of the Christian life. Looking to get past the stereotypes of liberal, faith-diluting colleges and conservative, unthinking churches, Christian College, Christian Calling provides an invaluable resource for anyone concerned about the mission and relevance of Christian higher education.” |

These are the questions at the center of this book, which is at once a sumptuously illustrated survey of Christian art over time and across the globe and a probing study of what “Christian art” really means, how it functions, where it arises, and whom it serves. > Rowena Loverance draws extensively on the vast international collections of the British Museum, with its remarkable examples of Christian art in the fourth-century Roman empire, the meeting of Eastern and Western art during the Crusades, Christian missionary art and its reception in sixteenth-century Africa, India, and Japan, and twentieth-century Christian popular art from Latin America and Oceania. The Museum’s collections of decorative arts yield original and lesser-known Christian iconography, allowing the author to show how Christian and other artists have responded to a variety of visual traditions. Within the European convention, the book considers the assaults of post-Renaissance scientific and philosophical discoveries and concludes with an assessment of the current state of Christian art at the beginning of the twenty-first century.” |

Christian Ethics $17 “In this excellent outline of Christian ethics, Robin W. Lovin achieves a balance between the questions and issues which form the core of the study of ethics, and the life situations from which those questions arise. Eschewing a sectarian approach which dismisses other understandings of the moral life, Lovin nonetheless lays claim to a specifically, Christian understanding of ethics by beginning with basic Christian convictions about the reality of God and human redemption, and weaving these convictions into the fabric of moral concerns that are widely shared in contemporary society. He takes note of the problems that arise when Christians try to act on or enforce their convictions in a pluralistic society, and recognizes the variety of theological and moral beliefs that are held within the Christian community, as well as in the wider society.” |

Christian Assembly $17 “What is “church”? What makes the church one? While these questions may seem innocuous, church has become conflicted territory recently, with internal factions, external pressures, and ecumenical turmoil all calling for a more positive, studier, more resilient notion of Christian community. Wengert approaches the questions as a Reformation historian. He shows how the New Testament notion of “marks” of the church was taken up by Luther and developed by Melanchthon not as descriptive tag but as a criterion for authenticity in Christian community. Lathrop, the liturgical theologian, shows concretely how those marks can stamp the worship life of a congregation as well as the evaluative work of congregations with their pastors, bishops, superintendents, and conference ministers. Only with a sturdy sense of their own identity–as a holy people, grounded in common practices and commitments–can Christian assemblies truly engage and even transform today’s cultural context. This volume originated as six lectures jointly presented to the Academy of Bishops of the ELCA in 2001.” |

Why Christian? $17 “In these dialogues with doubt, Hall enters into an earnest search with a young inquirera composite of undergraduates, graduates, clergy, working people, his own childrenwho is on the edges of Christian faith. Half familiar with superficial aspects of Christianity, hopeful of there being greater depth than has been found so far, she or he is curious, insistent, looking for something to believe in but not ready to leap without good reason. Such a person is asking, “Why be Christian?” In a passionate and personal way, Hall probes fundamental religious questions and wrestles with the cogency of basic Christian convictions about Jesus and God, about religious belief and the human predicament, about inauthentic forms of Christianity, about what is missing in human life today. Quoting Unamuno’s dictum that “Faith that does not doubt is dead faith,” Hall’s accessible and straightforward book helps readers to reclaim a Christianity of personal, intellectual, and moral integrity. This book may well prove a modern religious classic.” |

Kneeling Christian $8.99 “Since its first publication, The Kneeling Christian has helped hundreds of thousands of believers discover the key to God’s treasure house of blessing. This classic book on prayer, written by “An Unknown Author” sometime before the 1930′s, answers the most basic and often-asked questions Christians have about prayer: “How shall I pray?”"What is prayer?”"Must I agonize?”"Does God always answer prayer?”"Who may pray?”Prayer, though an essential part of Christian experience, remains mysterious to many believers. The author set about to familiarize Christians with the source of power available to them through prayer. According to The Kneeling Christian, “All real growth in the spiritual life–all victory over temptation, all confidence and peace in the presence of difficulties and dangers, all repose of spirit in times of great disappointment or loss, all habitual communion with God–depends on the practice of secret prayer.”This powerful, time-tested book points the way toward communion with God and all the life-changing benefits that derive from it.” |

Portrait Of A Christian $18.99 “My heart sank within me. Something was VERY wrong! My heart profoundly sank into my innermost being. It was then I knew in my heart of hearts that this insight was NOT given to me to judge anyone, but to HELP every called-out-one safely into the Kingdom of God. I wanted to somehow spiritually paint the portrait of a Christian in order that all who professed to be Christians would then be able to examine themselves to see if they could recognize the Spirit of Jesus Christ within themselves. And, God forbid, if they failed the test, just maybe, if they had ears to hear, they could then turn their mere Christian profession into a truly born-again experience. With this in mind, the title I have given to this book is: The Portrait of a Christian. The title comes from the knowledge that the best way to warn (admonish) of a fault is to expose the genuine-to expose the Spirit behind the Holy Scriptures so you can examine yourself to see if you recognize the Spirit of Jesus Christ (The Word) in you. This is one examination that ALL professing Christians must pass; to fail this examination has eternal infernal consequences. Raymond D. Sopp Int’l Ministries P.O. Is God a Christian? $19.95 “In a world composed of almost seven billion people, about 2.2 billion of them claim to be Christian. And while Christianity is continuing to grow at a modest rate, other religions are growing at a faster pace. Some scholars predict that Islam will overtake Christianity as the world’s largest religion by the middle of the twenty-first century. Predictions aside, religions are competing for the world stage, and in the competition, Christians seem certain that God is on their side. Christians often think and behave as though God is a Christian.> This book is written to ask if that assumption is true and to foster a more open conversation about other world religions. The world has grown too small and the stakes for mankind have grown too high for any of us to engage our faith as if our understanding of God represents the only way to God’s presence may be known in the world. We need, more than ever before, to develop creative communities of conversation.” |

A Christian and Separated? $14.99 “God hates divorce, yet He is not against separation as a temporary measure of mending differences. Experiencing a separation myself, I had first-hand encounters with attitudes, traditions, and misconceived philosophies in the church that bordered on condemnation rather than supporting restoration. A Christian and Separated uncovers these ingrained attitudes and beliefs in an effort to bring guidance, hope and encouragement to suffering marriages. It also urges a transformation of the position many Christians take when encountering a fellow believer struggling with a marital relationship. Although there are a lot of great books on Christian marriage, few come from the author’s personal experience and fewer address the disparaging reaction from Christians towards fellow believers that are struggling with this issue. My prayer is that many will benefit from this work reflecting on my personal recovery experiences from the front seat of the marriage separation and divorce roller coaster. Doug Cook has been a strongly devoted Christian since 1987 and a dedicated and seasoned bible teacher for over 10 years. He has a thorough knowledge of the bible and a vast amount of experience guiding other believers with focus and direction in their specific area of ministry. Doug’s desire to support fellow believers spiritual growth drove him to begin a home church in 2002, which led to the establishment of Emerald Ministries in 2003, a ministry to ministries, focused on assisting other Christian organization with their start up, accounting, business acumen, and more importantly spiritual oversight and accountability. In 2004 he resigned his position at a large corporation to answer God’s call to be infull time ministry. Later the same year he received his assignment from God to be an elder in the body of Christ with a call to a five fold ministry office.” |

Conceiving the Christian College $28 “This book is designed to help those who are interested in Christian higher education explore anew the unique features, opportunities, and contemporary challenges of one distinct type of educational institution – the Christian college. What distinguishes Conceiving the Christian College from the many other books on this subject is its incisive discussion of a set of crucial ideas widely misunderstood in the world of Christian higher education. Now serving in his eleventh year as president of one of the nation’s foremost Christian colleges, Duane Litfin is well placed to ask pressing questions regarding faith-based education. What is unique about Christian colleges? What is required to sustain them? How do they maintain their bearing in the tumultuous intellectual seas of the twenty-first century? Litfin’s themes are large, but they are meant to refocus the conceptual challenges to Christian education in ways that will strengthen both the academic environment of today’s Christian colleges and their impact on culture at large.” |

Christian Apologetics $26.99 “This work on Christian apologetics is in three parts. Part One surveys various tests for truth in order to lay the groundwork for testing the truth of various world views. Part Two applies the test for truth to the various world views and concludes that theism is the only adequate world view. Part Three works within the context of a theistic world view to verify the unique claims of historical Christianity as to the deity of Christ and the authority of the Bible. The basic movement in this historic apologetic takes its roots from the apostles in the New Testament, was developed by Augustine, and comes to fruition in later Christians like Aquinas. It is in essence the approach used by the old Princetonian theologians like Warfield and Hodge in the tradition of Calvin and it has been more popularly represented in recent times in the writings of C. S. Lewis. The heart of this apologetic approach is that the Christian is interested in defending the truths that Christ is the Son of God and the Bible is the Word of God. However, prior to establishing these two pillars on which the uniqueness of Christianity is built, one must establish the existence of God. For it makes no sense, to speak about an act of God (i.e., a miracle) confirming that Christ is the Son of God and that the Bible is the Word of God unless of course there is a God who can have a Son and who can speak a Word. Theism, then, is a logical prerequisite to Christianity. What is more, an adequate test for truth is a methodological prerequisite to establishing theism. For unless the Christian apologist has a test by which he can show other systems to be false and theism to be true, then there is no way to adjudicate the claims of various religions and world views. In view of this important problem we unapologetically commit Part One to the prior question of truth tests before an attempt is made to defend theism (Part Two) and the uniqueness of Christianity (Part Three).” |

God of Israel and Christian Th $20 “With acknowledgment that Christian theology contributed to the persecution and genocide of Jews comes a dilemma: how to excise the cancer without killing the patient? Along with this first full-scale critique of Christian supersessionism, Soulen’s own constructive proposal regraps the narrative unity of Christian identity and the canon through an original and important insight into the divine-human covenant, the election of Israel, and the meaning of history.” |

With a special emphasis on global Christianity, Marty shows how the religion emerged from its ancestral homeland in Africa, the Levant, and Asia Minor, was imported to Europe, and then expanded from there to the rest of the world. Christian Marriage $25.95 “”This book represents a theology of marriage. It is not intended as a manual for solving marital problems, or as a self-help guide on how to improve one’s marriage. Rather, its basic goal is to bring forward into our time, with all its uniqueness and peculiarities, major insights of the Christian faith as they relate to married life . . . . “Through the love of wife and husband, woman and man, through loving words pronounced in public in formal ceremony and unfolded in the time that ensues, through the couple’s collaboration with God’s creative power in brining new life into the world, through the spirituality lived in transforming creation, the sacrament of marriage brings the Spirit of God into the world. Each couple has the power to block this process, but what is more important to affirm is their capacity to advance it. And it happens.” -From Chapter 1″ |

Christian School Teacher $16.99 “How many Christian “school teachers” are fully familiar with God’s biblical mandates for their vocation? School teachers inherently hold a powerful influence over students, for good or bad. This sobering reality should motivate all school administrators, especially in Christian schools, to ensure that their teachers are spiritually qualified. Academic qualifications for teachers are essential, but spiritual qualifications are critical for meeting the biblical goals of education. In fact, it is the spiritual motivation and qualification of teachers that should be the greatest area of concern during the process of selecting faculty members to serve in Christian schools. Veteran teacher and Christian counselor Hooper offers twenty-one defining principles that separate Christian teachers from those who are not Christian. Do today’s school teachers make the grade? This book is a must read for all who aspire to serve God effectively in the school classroom. Duane Hooper is a school teacher, principal, ordained minister, and board certified Christian counselor. His ministry was providentially redirected from the pastorate to education in 1990 when he began serving as teacher at Bay Area Christian School in League City, Texas. While serving as teacher and junior high principal, his passion for Christian education intensified. Concerning the influence held by teachers, especially in light of Christ’s love for children, Duane was burdened regarding the need for Christian teachers to model not just Spiritual fruit, but Christ’s express love for children. Duane’s love for students is manifested in his several nominations to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. With both masters and doctoral degreesin Christian education and a Ph.D. in Christian Counseling, Duane has an ardent passion to share what he believes to be a Bible-based vision for the ministries of Christian school teachers-whether serving in Christian or public schools.” |

Kierkegaard The Christian $17 “From the enlightened era of the nineteenth century comes a voice relevant to our day and time. Because truth is eternal, we glean insightful knowledge from this Danish philospher. The 1507 quotations in this book are selected to introduce the reader to the full range of Kierkegaard’s thoughts as a Christian. This book is topically arranged. Its subjects range from God to Man, Eternal to Temporal, Sin to Self-Denial, Passive Belief to Passionate Commitment, etc. Kierkegaard said of himself: “My whole authorship pertains to Christianity… .” “What do I care about the world’s honor and glory, and what do I care about its ridicule and scorn, indeed, what do I care about its ridicule and scorn, indeed, what do I care about myself if only God may be honored.” Kierkegaard’s ideas are timeless: There is only one relation to revealed truth: believe it. We have Christ’s word that there is an eternal life, and with that the matter is decided. They are important: Do not doubt whether you are immortal? Tremble, because you are immortal. They are contemporary: The majority of people are willing to be grateful when they receive a good gift, but then they demand that it be left to them to decide which gift is good. They are the Gospel: No friend has ever been able to be more than faithful unto death, be he remained faithful in death–his death was indeed my salvaton.” |
